Rare that a sermon is not really that engagging, but at the same time it really moves you. Had that tonight as Len Sweet was the guest speaker. His 'sermon' did not really cause a stir, but more importantly, it subtely created a logic that with his conclusion makes you have to act.
He began with 'how do you read the bible?' One method he uses is picking a verse and following it through book by book. Easy if you pick verse 25:25 as not many books have 25 chapters. It is a longer process if you choose 1:1. Well one day Len picked 3:16.
As he got to Revelation 3:16, it really moved him.
Then he spoke of an Exodus verse where the parting of the Red Sea is bookend by two verses saying the same thing differently. "They crossed the sea on dry land." and then "On dry land they crossed the sea."
God is calling us to cross the sea on dry land. That is, begin the task with faith that God will provide.
Bottom line, risk take. Don't wait for the dry land before we begin to cross.
Struck a cord with me.

ntla
The "no tan line annual" is coming up this week. Can't wait. We hit the water about noon on Wednesday and plan to pull out just after noon next Sunday. Weather is looking a little bleak, but that might just make men out of us. This will be my first ntla as a married man. Wow. The wedding was exactly 8 months ago. So far the first year is nothing short of amazing. I'm a very lucky man. Hope the luck holfs out for the weather.
Let's get this party started
Trying to keep up with the Joneses makes me realize that Blogging may be a technology / communication tool to explore. But why? And when? And who has time? I guess time will tell.
